NOTED: No Ways to Expand

Interesting statement from HCDE's Chief Financial Officer Tommy Kranz:
"We are growing faster than our revenues."
Compare that against a TFP article written in February of 2008: Schools CFO suggests ways to cut.

At the time, the district was losing approximately 1,800 students a year, and the department of education was building new schools and hiring new staff anyway.

Now, the administration has announced that they want to spend $150 million on building new schools because, unlike years past, enrollment is up and the east Hamilton County areas are experiencing rapid growth.

Either way, the commission seems to be turning a deaf ear on more spending, no matter the district's plans - closing schools or building new ones.
